The first prize is very special as it is a collaboration between a number of us and here is the finished quilt…
The quilt top was pieced by Our Friend Marilyn a while ago but never finished. It was passed to Janet (Mum-in-Law) via Ruth Parker who had the sad task of sorting through Marilyns stash.
Janet (Mum-in-Law) and I wanted to finish the quilt and both agreed that it should be a prize in the raffle so the finishing off began.
Janet (Mum-in-Law) added the final border, sandwiched the layers and made the binding.
I did the quilting which is shown in progress in the picture below. It looks quite brutal but it worked a treat to cope with the weight.
It was then passed to Lou (The Fabulous Stitcher) to square up, add the binding and a hanging sleeve.
The block is called Monkey Wrench and is so effective when used with contrasting fabrics.
The finished quilt measures 46 inches by 60 inches (117cm x 152cm) so it is a fair size.
I hope you agree that it looks fab and will be a lovely prize for whoever is lucky enough to win it – so good luck to all those you who buy tickets and thank you for doing so.
As you know, the purpose of the raffle is to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund
