One of the things I really really wanted the exhibition on the 27th to do was allow visitors to become involved in the day.

By that I mean have the chance to get their hands on an exhibit or two and get their hands on some fabric and paint, but hopefully not at the same time!

So with all this in mind, these are the things I have come up with….

Visitors Choice – you will have the chance to vote for your favourite exhibit and say why you like it.  I will post pictures and details of the ‘winning’ exhibit here and on my facebook page.

Please Touch! – this will be the instruction next to a couple of the exhibits and one of them I would like visitors to add to!!!  Come along and find out more…

What Would You Do – you will have the chance to win a hand dyed piece of fabric by telling me what you would do with it.  The idea I like the most will win the fabric.

Come and Find It – visitors will be given a list of 10 photos of different exhibits and see if they can find which ones the photos belong to.

Make Your Mark – this is where you get your hands on fabric, pens and paint! Sharon (The Talented Teacher) will be looking after you at this table.  As the fabric panels become decorated they will be hung up for everyone to see what you have been up to!  This can be anything from your name, handprint, comments about the day or even something a bit more adventurous!

What Would You Do Template

And that’s without all the lovely work to see and Diane’s delicious homemade cakes to treat yourself to!

Hope to see you there.

Unfortunately Empress Mills have advised me that they are no longer able to attend on the 27th October.

I am, however, absolutely delighted to announce that Trish at Tilia Fabric has very kindly stepped in and agreed to join us with her gorgeous fabrics and will have some wadding for those of you who need to stock up!  Don’t worry though if she sells out, she will also take orders.

Soooo, a big thank you to Trish who can also be found on facebook by clicking here.

Autumn Leaves – finally finished!

Image

As some of you will know, last year myself, Janet (M-in-L) and Lou (The Fabulous Stitcher) did a residential course with Sheena Norquay at Alston Hall called Autumn Leaves.

I posted about it at the time showing pictures of the work in progress…. well I am very happy (and relieved) to report that the free motion stitching is now finished and the piece will be on display at the exhibition on the 27th October.

This is what it looked like the last time you saw it…

Background free motion quitling started

Come and join us on the 27th to see how it looks now.

You can click here to read the posts from our visit there.

If you get the chance to do a workshop with Sheena then I totally recommend that you go for it, she is brilliant!!

The Countdown has begun!!

Image

Oh no….October has arrived far too early, where has the year gone…..

Well the 27th is fast approaching and I am busy at work on a to do list that seems to be getting bigger not smaller!!

Just to prove I am hard at work here is a couple of pictures to prove it..

The Book 1

For those of you who are coming to the exhibition, you will be able to get your hands on the piece of work – it needs finishing first of course!

The Book 2

My poor embellisher has even had an outing – he was bought with lots of good intentions and enthusiasm but I haven’t done that justice.  Do you have one of these and ‘intend’ to use it ‘all the time’???

Work on the embellisher

Well I had better get my nose back to the grindstone..

Looking forward to seeing you on the 27th.

The Raffle: Lou’s Shoes

Image

I am very excited to tell you about the next raffle prize!!!

They have been made with great skill by Lou (The Fabulous Stitcher)….. and here they are……well hiding in their little handmade bag….

Lous Shoes 1

Are they gorgeous or what????!!!!!! Lous Shoes 2

They are handmade and decorated with the tiniest of beads and yes you guessed it, they are all stitched on by hand! Made in pink, Marilyn’s favourite colour.

Lous Shoes 3

They look huge in the picture but they are only about 3 inch (8cm) long and 1 inch (2.5cm) high.

Lous Shoes 4

Well if they don’t inspire you to come and join us on the 27th October at the exhibition, I don’t know what will.  Just to tempt you even more, Lou (The Fabulous Stitcher) has agreed with some persuasion to exhibit more impressive examples of her work.  There may even be more shoes in different colours – you never know!!!

Thank you to Lou (The Fabulous Stitcher) whose kind support is very much appreciated.
