Festival Friday: only 1 more to go!

The quilt below was entered in the Pictorial Quilts category by Angela Daymond and is named ‘A Natural Landscape’.

I thought it was striking to look at against the white wall it was displayed on.  I love the limited number of colours and the bold shapes of the seed heads.  I have to admit that I also have a thing for seed heads of all shapes and sizes in any media – I just love them!

Technical Information: ‘All fabrics used have been dyed with plants: weld (yellow), red cabbage (blue), cutch (brown) and woad (to make green).’

Inspiration: ‘Inspiration comes from the big open skies of the fens fields of rapeseed and cow parsley growing in the verges.’

What a beauty this next one is!

It is quite hard to capture the intensity of its colour in a photo particularly as the lighting is not that great in the huge hall but believe me you could have warmed your hands on this one it looked so fiery.

It is named ‘In Russet Mantle Clad’ and made by Catherine Millar.

Technical Information: ‘Circular Bargello with machine applique and machine quilting.’

Inspiration: ‘Shakespeare’s words “But look, the morn in Russet Mantle Clad, walks o’er the dew of yon high eastern hill” inspired this quilt.

It very much reminded me of a quilt I saw a while ago at Festival by Lisa Walton – which is my ALL TIME FAVOURITE quilt but that is a post all of its own!

Well we only have one more Festival Friday to go before the big event arrives….how many more sleeps is that??????

Thanks for stopping by….
